Hi ,
I have started to feel like I should try to write the blogs with different view points and not following the same pattern with the same contents of who is involved and what we did and what we saw and what time the events took place.
Instead write about an experience and see if people from around the world do feel the same as I do.
This blog is dedicated to one of such event and experiences.
Well, yes ! Expect this write up to be a short one and will have a question at last which is for readers to comment :)
It all started when I was flying to Malaysia and it was 12:05 AM at night. It was my first flying experience and I had no one with me to guide me and talk to me. When things are happening the first time it is in human nature to be overly cautious of all the things happening around. So was I!
I was bid a Bye from my mom, dad and my close friend from outside the Airport. (I had known that they cannot enter the airport even if they are my parents still I had asked them to accompany me till airport just for the sake of it) Also I stay in Bengaluru (Back then it was Bangalore and Bangalore International Airport- BIAL ; now it is Bengaluru and Kempegowda International Airport- KIAL.) So there is a place where visitors can say bye from outside and the travellers move into the airport after the first check from the Army at the entrance.
Curious as I was, I asked the army personnel - will you allow my parents to enter with me till I get my boarding ticket? He with a pleasant - sarcastic smile said there are others behind you too please move. I felt I should irritate him more but remembered one statement from my senior that in Airport never behave rude or irritate anyone. Try to maintain a low profile to face no difficulties.
So I stopped at that and handed over my passport and my tickets to him and patiently waited till he said thanks.
I turn back and I really saw what he meant, there was a queue of around 8-9 people behind me and I was thinking did all of them enter with me and get down from the taxis at the same time as me or were they waiting for someone to start entering and they all followed? I was clueless but as I gazed through the double glass doors , I saw my friend holding both his hands up and waving to me. I wish I could do that too. But I waved back to him with one hand and saw my mom waving with a smile on her face. I was travelling for a month and she was happy to see her son fly and say a bye in airport. My dad as usual was seeing my mom and looking at the taxi to get back home.
I proceeded to ticket counter where I was asked to keep my luggage and they weighed it and then gave me a boarding ticket and asked me to head to flight terminal.
I went in and saw that my flight was scheduled to departure at 12:05 AM. So I was talking to my mom and my friend who had come to ask if they reached home and where they were.
I entered the flight and the attendant welcomed each person with a same smile. Greeted each person with same sentence too! I in-fact deliberately slowed down a bit to listen to what they say to the next passenger behind me and it was the exact same sentence!
I was sitting in a window seat and as the flight took off I was excited to see how our Garden city looked from skies above! And yes it looked awesome! With lights and darkness. I was thinking this must be the place where I stay and wanted to see if I can figure out the place - by finding some thing that is unique to our area or may be something close by but I could not!
Just after the flight took to a certain height , I hear a faint sound as if some small alarm is off. The light on the seat belt sign went off and I saw people getting up. I was a little cautious and I was observing how people touch the light and that I need to go out and more.
I took got up and the passenger next to me was very kind enough to get up even before I asked him. Lesson learnt - I too will do this next time if I am in the aisle or the corner seat is what I thought. But now that I had got up I had to go to some point!! I was really wondering where to !
I just moved around and found that I can use the restroom as it was green and no one was using it.! I went in and I was amazed at the size and how cleanly everything needed is perfectly arranged and made available in such small place. Even a baby holder ! Wow ! I felt this is innovation at its best!
***Now to the QUESTIONABLE experience:
I came out and I see a flight attendant waving to me and I hear an announcement, Please fasten your seatbelts, we are currently experience some turbulence so please avoid moving and going to lavatories.
I was very tensed and rushed back to the seat. Put back my seat belt !
I saw that the seat belt sign remained on while the attendants moved freely and I also saw that they started to come with a trolley filled with DINNER ! I was like ? Really we are asked not to move around while they are serving food? I was a little worried .
This was the point that was stuck in my mind for until every time I observed the same thing happen. The flight takes off, ten minutes the seat belt sign is off and then it is switched on with announcement: Please fasten your seatbelts, we are currently experience some turbulence so please avoid moving and going to lavatories. And the food is served by the attendants.
And after the food is served and the garbage collected, the lights go off for next ten minutes and then it is switched on again.
All this when the flight was stable as it was earlier. No changes experienced.
I happened to experience Real turbulence once and the flight shook and I felt that we were thrown a bit into air. And I saw no attendants walking around or any food served during those times.
Now my question to all those who have taken flights and experienced this-
Can we think of this as restricting the passenger movement when they want to be serving the food so that we do not disturb them asking them to move the cart a little away or take it to the side?
That we smell the food and have no distractions and feel like ordering something from the attendants?
That they restrict unnecessary movement to -fro to the lavatories and creating more fuss on flight?
OR
OR
Is it really a turbulence that is happening and the flight attendants care least about their own safety and serve us so that we are happy?
If there is anything that needs my question update, or you guys want to add in, please feel free to do so in the comments section!
Thank you so much in advance for reading and commenting too if you do !
